Terms of Service

Justin's Spanish Book (justinsspanishbook.com) will be referred to as "the Service." These terms are the agreement between you and me for using the Service. I've tried to keep them plain and honest. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them.

1. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you are 18 or older. The Service isn't directed to children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

2. Your account

You'll need an account to subscribe and access the book. You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Please give accurate information when you sign up, and let me know if you spot any unauthorized use of your account.

3. Subscription, billing & cancellation

The Service is offered as a subscription of $15 per month. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; I never see or store your full card details. By subscribing, you authorize a recurring monthly charge to your payment method until you cancel.

Your subscription renews automatically each month at the then-current price. You can cancel anytime, and your access will continue through the end of the billing period you've already paid for. I'll give reasonable notice before any price change.

4. Refunds

I want you to be able to try the whole book and decide if it's right for you. If you email me at [email protected] within seven (7) days of your purchase, I'll refund it - no questions asked. Outside that window, payments are non-refundable, but you can cancel anytime to stop future charges.

5. What you can do with the content

The text, explanations, exercises, animations, code, and design - are my original work (or used with permission) and is protected by copyright and other laws. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable license to access and use the content for your own language learning.

That license does not let you:

  • copy, download in bulk, scrape, or systematically extract the content;
  • republish, redistribute, sell, sublicense, or share your access with others;
  • use automated tools (bots, crawlers, scrapers) to access the Service;
  • create derivative works from the content, or use it to train machine-learning models;
  • remove or obscure any copyright or ownership notices.

In short: enjoy it, learn from it, but please don't take it or redistribute it. If you'd like to use something for a legitimate purpose, just ask me.

6. Acceptable use

Please don't misuse the Service - that includes trying to break, probe, or overload it, accessing it through unauthorized means, interfering with other users, or using it for anything unlawful. I may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that put the Service or its users at risk. Please don't share a single account with a group of people.

7. Availability & changes

This is an actively maintained, one-person project. I add and update material over time, and I may occasionally change, pause, or remove features. I aim to keep the Service running smoothly but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. The book is built for desktop browsers and works best in Chrome; some features are limited on phones and tablets.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. I don't guarantee any specific learning outcome - language learning depends a great deal on you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, I won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. My total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid me in the twelve (12) months before the claim.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, and you agree to that jurisdiction.

11. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. If I make a material change, I'll let you know if appropriate. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
