Privacy Policy

The short version

• I collect your email and the basics needed to run your account and subscription.
• Payments go through Stripe - I never see or store your card number.
• My analytics (Umami) are privacy-friendly and cookieless. No tracking cookies, no profiling.
• I do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone. Ever.

What I collect

Account information. When you sign up, I collect your email address and a securely stored password so you can log in and access the book.

Payment information. When you subscribe, Stripe collects and processes your payment details. I receive only limited information from Stripe - things like your subscription status and a customer ID - never your full card number.

Usage analytics. I use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand general traffic - things like page views and roughly where visitors come from, in aggregate. Umami is cookieless and doesn't collect personal information or fingerprint you, so there's no tracking cookie banner to click through.

How I use it

I use the limited information above to:

• create and maintain your account;
• process your subscription, renewals, and refunds through Stripe;
• respond to you when you email me for support;
• understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so I can improve it;
• keep the Service secure and meet legal obligations.

I'll only email you about things related to your account and the Service (like receipts or important changes). I'm not running a marketing machine.

Who I share it with

I don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. I share data only with the small set of service providers that make the Service work, and only as needed:

• Stripe - to process payments and manage subscriptions.
• Umami - for privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers that run the website.

I may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the Service and its users.

Cookies

I keep cookies to a minimum. I use only what's necessary to keep you logged in and to operate the Service. My analytics don't use tracking cookies, and I don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Data retention

I keep your account information for as long as you have an account. If you close your account or ask me to delete your data, I'll delete it within a reasonable time, except where I need to keep certain records (for example, payment records Stripe and I must retain for tax and legal reasons).

Your choices & rights

You can access or update your account information by logging in, or by emailing me. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU/UK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to ask me not to “sell” it - which is easy, because I don't. To exercise any of these, just email me and I'll take care of it.

Children

The Service is intended for adults 18 and older. I don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided me information, please email me and I'll delete it.

Security

I take reasonable measures to protect your information, and I rely on trusted providers like Stripe for sensitive payment data. That said, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so I can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If I update this policy in a meaningful way, I'll let you know if appropriate. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
